President's Message

Fellow Rotarians,

Welcome back to our first meeting of 2107. Our speakers for the night were Steve Hopwood (ex RC of Berowra) and Doug Reid from the RC of Wahroonga. The topic was Hornsby Connect, a project initiated by Steve Hopwood, helping the needy in the community. We were also pleased to have Anneli and Bella Lindblad, mother and sister of Nicolina, a previous exchange student from Waitara Club. Bella gave a beautiful rendition of a Swedish folk song.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Coin Committee, under the guidance of Stephen Bruce, and in particular the work put in by Craig Fretwell behind the scenes. Maddie and Jenny have nearly 200kg to sort, having just received 70 kg from Melbourne. A payment of $3,700 has been received from Global Money Exchange, also money from US and Canada. An interesting aside from Craig’s work is the value of old silver and tokens we have in stock which will be sold on Ebay and should realise $3,000 - $5,000. Reconciliation, repatriation and inventory records are completely up to date.

Next Monday 16th, our own member Chris Robison will tell us about his two week visit to Cuba. This is a partners’ night and numbers will be required this week as we may need to book a larger room at the club. Please notify extra attendance numbers asap.
The next Board meeting will be on Tuesday 24th January.

The Conference is on Saturday March 11th – if you are attending and have not booked then please do so. The 4-Way Test
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

The Object Of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Attendee’s Reminder
