President's Message

Fellow Rotarians,

We heard an outstanding presentation from Katie Williams about her recent exchange year in Brazil. There is no doubt that the change in age requirements for exchange students is a success. Katie spoke with enthusiasm and maturity about her experiences of the past year and her plans for the future. She also revealed how she felt she had changed as a result of the time away, becoming more independent and decisive. Over the years we have heard from many fine young speakers, but none better than Katie. Congratulations to Katie and also to Jonas, who repeated his speech which had been given at the exchange student dinner – this was also of the highest quality. There is every reason to be proud of these two young ambassadors for the Rotary youth programme.

Funds from our Foreign Coin programme have been directed to malaria research. See  a letter of thanks for our financial support of the Malaria Vaccine Project at Griffith University, Gold Coast, and an update on this exciting venture, which is progressing towards clinical trials, the final step before the vaccine is tested in endemic countries.

Dates to remember:

Saturday 11th March Hornsby North Public School Fair

The 4-Way Test
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

The Object Of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Attendee’s Reminder
